“You should have trusted me enough to believe I would not have betrayed you. Without trust, love is nothing and you proved what we shared was nothing.” Virgil
Hello Everyone,
Welcome back to another Frappe Friday. Today’s review is from an author I enjoyed years ago and have recently rediscovered. I loved her Westmoreland series and now I m embroiled in her Bachelors in Demand series with Bachelor Unforgiving.
Let me start by saying, I really, really dislike when the OTP believes something about the other without confronting each other. I understood in Resentment (see previous post) because they were teens with no parental support. I can even understand when they are adults who have spent most of their lives being unable to trust anyone; but when either of these is not the case, there just is no excuse. That was the case in this book (or maybe there was-you gotta read the book to judge for yourself).
Bachelor Unforgiving is the story of Kara Goshay and Virgil Bougard. Four years ago, Kara and Virgil were in a relationship when Kara believed a vicious lie about Virgil. She didn’t believe him when he proclaimed his innocence. Thus their involvement ended leaving Virgil bitter. Now armed with the truth, Kara approaches Virgil with an apology that Virgil promptly rejects. Six months after the rejection, Kara’s PR firm is hired by Virgil’s father to clean up his playboy image by faking a relationship for the media. Kara is seeking forgiveness from a man who claims he will never forgive her and is out for revenge. But with the strong attraction and unresolved feelings, you know the plan is bound to backfire.
Brenda wrote a very compelling tale of trust and forgiveness. She explores how bitterness can blur reality, stealing a person’s chance of happiness. The only thing Kara and Virgil has going for them is an intense connection that can maybe overcome Virgil’s bitter and unforgiving nature. Add in a secret enemy determined to destroy Kara’s reputation and we will see if Virgil will be able to hold out once his protective instinct is unleashed.
Boy did I enjoy this story. I could do nothing but shake my head at how utterly stubborn Virgil is. Although I disliked Kara’s unyielding refusal to listen or believe in the man she professed to love, I respect the strength and patience she showed in seeking forgiveness, on top of dealing with the threat to herself. I totally ship this OTP. I love a strong heroine who can admit she was wrong, just as I love a strong and protective alpha man.
So go to McDonald’s and grab a frappe (or Starbuck’s if that is your thing) and get to know these two. It is the perfect weekend/beach read.
Happy Friday!

P.S. I would like to give a shout out again to Whitney G who is the inspiration for Frappe Fridays. I got the idea from her blog Mocha Mondays. I hope she doesn’t mind my borrowing her theme since I am F.L.Y. Thank you Whitney.
