“A restless, lonely spirit whose destiny is to save the very mortals who despise and fear him. He will never know rest or peace until he can find the one woman who will not betray him. The one pure heart who can see past his dark side and bring him back into the light.”
Hello Everyone,
Happy Independence Day! After reading and reviewing Retribution by Sherrilyn Kenyon (see Hot Day! Hot Read!), I decided to go back and read the first book in the Dark-Hunter series (although Fantasy Lover is technically the first book, it is not a Dark-Hunter book). So I read Night Pleasures again. I first read it in 2007.

Night Pleasures tells the story of Kyrian of Thrace, aka, Hunter the Dark-Hunter. After being betrayed by the woman he loved, his soul cried out for vengeance. Hunter is an immortal badass. His toughness is underscored by his vulnerability, which is a result of his past betrayal and could possibly be the death of him. The betrayal changes him from a fun loving prince, to a man unable to trust easily. In New Orleans, Hunter is after a powerful Daimon (vampire), who is after Amanda Deveraux.
Amanda comes from a family of tarot card readers, vampire hunters, psychics, etc. After a tragic event in her past, she is ashamed of her weird family and thus is ashamed of the powers she possesses but denies. Now she has a powerful vampire after her powers and a gorgeous Greek Dark-Hunter protecting her.
Night Pleasures was a delight to read again. It was fun to revisit beloved characters. It was as if I was reading the book for the first time. Meet Acheron (Ash) and Nick, whose stories and relationship evolves and becomes complicated as the series goes on. This is also the book where Sundown (from Retribution) is introduced. Tabitha (Amanda’s twin) is a hoot. This book/series is Sherrilyn’s unique take on Greek mythology. It has history and so much emotion. It delves into the past so that you understand the actions of the present; understand what makes the characters who they are. So get a start on the series with Night Pleasures and become a hardcore Dark-Hunter fan. You will not regret it.
But wait, this blog is not just about books, it’s about stories. Some of the best stories I have read was on an erotic stories site called Literotica. Now, don’t get it twisted; I don’t go on the site for the pornographic stories. There are different categories like Non-Erotic, Romance, Non-Human and Loving Wives. Loving Wives has stories from actual loving wives to wife sharing/swapping. But it is most noted for it’s stories of cheating wives and the husband’s revenge when he finds out what his “loving wife” is up to. So go to literotica.com and check out stories by some of my favorite authors, such as: Just Plain Bob, StangStar06, Slirpuff, Harddaysknight and DanielQSteele1 just to name a few.
One more thing; Carrie Underwood’s song, Two Black Cadillacs, tells the story of two women, in two black Cadillacs, at the funeral of one man, who lived a double life. (Want to know more? Listen to the song). This is a story within a song that should be expanded in say, an online read or a book. Just saying.
Happy 4th of July!
